Itinerary : 3 Days Fes desert tour to Merzouga
Day 1: Fes - Ifrane - Midelt - Gorges Ziz - Erfoud - Rissani - Merzouga
At 7:00 a.m., your driver will take you up from your Riad or hotel. The drive will next take seven hours, passing through the Middle Atlas Mountains, the cedar woods of Ifrane (Morocco’s Switzerland), Azrou, Midelt, and the Ziz Gorges before arriving at the Sahara and the Erg Chebbi Sand Dunes. You also head to the camels, who are eager to take us on an adventure in the sand dunes after a quiet day at Merzouga. Later, we’ll hike to a high dune to witness the sunset and spend the night in nomadic tents, followed by a night in a camp with drum music in the Sahara.
Day 2: Tour around Merzouga Desert
After breakfast, we will go out on our adventure around the Erg-Chebbi sand dunes. So we’ll go to several beautiful places in the Merzouga region, including a lake that periodically dries up in the summer. There are numerous bird species to see, including ducks and flamingos, who come to the lake for water or to nest, especially in the spring. In addition, you will visit Khamlia, where black African artists will play African music. Furthermore, we will continue our off-road adventure towards the black desert concealed beyond Erg-Chebbi’s sand dunes. Following our visit to a desolate town where mineral fossils have been discovered, we will visit a nomadic Berber family to learn about their lifestyle.
We’ll enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant when we return to Khamlia. Camel trekking begins in the late afternoon across the magnificent orange sand dunes of the desert camp.This is also a fantastic opportunity to replenish your spirit while admiring the stunning sunset over the dunes. You may then enjoy yourself on the sand dunes beneath endless stars while eating supper and spending the evening at the camp while music plays.
DAY 3: Merzouga - Midelt - Ifrane - Fes
We’ll get up early to take in the breathtaking sunrise over the sand dunes before riding camels back to the hotel. Following that, we will proceed to Fez after eating breakfast and cooling off. As we leave the desert and go towards Fez, we will pass through the Ziz Valley and the Middle Atlas Mountains. Next, we will go through Azrou’s cedar trees and stop to feed monkeys. After traveling via Ifrane, Morocco’s Switzerland, we arrive in Fez early in the afternoon.
